In December of 2016 I started one of the hardest things I’d ever done. Maybe the hardest. Three days a week for 4 hours each day I sat in a dialysis clinic attached to a machine watching my blood flow through plastic tubing into that machine to be cleaned of the toxins my body was no longer able to do on its own. It was a new norm that would last a lifetime. My lifetime. Unless.

In February 2018 I was referred one of the local organ transplant centers for evaluation for a potential kidney transplant. My “unless.”

These posts chronicle the journey to what might be a new new norm. I’d be honored if you’d take this trip with me. Hopefully this will be the only time that you have to make such a journey.
