Take a peek – Solving Problems the Right Way

Hello fellow bloggers! I invite you to take a peek at another ROAMcare post, Solving Problems the Right Way.

Among our interactions at home, at work, and places in between, there are few when some disagreement doesn’t arise. True problem solving has less to do with deciding who is right and everything to do with finding the right way to be.

Solving Problems the Right Way

In just about a month, Americans will go to the polls to elect 23 governors, 33 senators, 435 members of the House of Representatives, one Vice President and, oh yes, one President. In many of those races it is difficult to differentiate the opponents from their ads and campaign signs. Regardless of party, the advertising party is for the “hardworking people” and the opposition is “too radical” or “too extreme.’’ How is it that both sides can be right? They can’t, and too often neither side is.

We see the difficulties in expressing oneself without bias or without attempting to either make less of someone’s accomplishments or to make more of one’s own when they are presented to us in such jarring fashion as a political ad. If we took a close look at our own interactions with those who take a different view of how something should be done, would we see the same traits as we are seeing now being played out on the larger stages?

    1. Thank you Vicki. I hope we got the process right. That’s the way we do it and things usually work out for the better with everyone walking away happy.

  1. Teat thoughts about problem solving. Even though I sometimes have strong ideas about things, the fact is that most issues are more nuanced than people tend to view them

    1. Oh that’s so true Claude. Those are often the most difficult differences to resolve because they are so nuanced. It’s like everyone appears so far apart but are really so close under the surface. It becomes too easy to just stand your ground than give a little or reach out and explore the similarities.

      1. Yes that’s very true Michael

Sorry about my typo in my comment. Meant to type GREAT

  2. Here’s something I’ve learned along the way, not everyone wants to solve problems. Many people I’ve known hang onto their problems like Linus’s security blanket. And trying to get them to let go is impossible… until they want to.

    1. And that’s fine. Those problems become their reason for being, or becoming the who they are.
The ones who bother us, why we picked on that topic, are the people who a) Think they are not a problem to others (we all are at some time) and are oblivious to others’ feelings, or b) Think everyone else is the problem and don’t care about others’ feelings. Both of those subsets solve the “problem” by forcing their will on everyone else, never considering there could be an amicable resolution.
