Tradition has it the first American Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621. I don’t know if that’s true. I wasn’t there. That’s the trouble with tradition. Nobody around now was there when they started. We take them on faith and faithfully we follow them.
Thanksgiving 2018 will be a year many who had been here for 2017’s are no longer around. That’s the trouble with time. We take on faith today day will have another to follow.
They tell us that Thanksgiving is for friends and family to gather to be thankful they are still friends and family. I know. I said that at Thanksgiving 2011. Our friends and our families are truly the best of ourselves. How we love us is how we love them. This year, be thankful you are still here to love.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Is it possible tradition change through the years?
Just asking ….
Kind regards,
Absolutely possible! Traditions change as they grow with us just as we change and grow. Some traditions meld into new ones. Some traditions wane then resurgence. Some die out. Some are always with us and seem to always will be. And some are born anew but we probably don’t notice them because we have yet to recognize them as traditional!
I agree on that.
But many Dutch are demonstrating, fighting and arguing.
Some want to change, modernise some thing around Black Pete. But others insist that everything related to Sinterklaas must continue.
Both sides pretend to be involved with the children …
Kind regards,
I’ve read about it but not enough to say I know the whole story. I know enough though that we can’t hold our own children hostage or it won’t just be traditions that are imperiled but the civil part of civilization itself. Then we all lose.
